Description
The Field Service Technician will act as a technical ambassador while providing service expertise to internal and external customers. The technician will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLC-controlled equipment, conveyor systems, and mechanical machines in a food-processing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform emergency/unscheduled and scheduled maintenance at customer facilities.
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades to existing installations.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform maintenance and service.
- Execute service and maintenance orders efficiently and timely.
- Provide accurate, detailed reports after completion of service or installation jobs using standard templates.
- Comply with all health and safety programs.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of strong customer relations.
- Effectively communicate with customers, sales teams, and partners to ensure customer needs are met.
- Provide feedback on customer requirements for global implementation.
- Complete weekly expense and hours reports.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and QA departments to ensure product quality.
- Assist in developing company training programs when needed.
- Self-manage travel and accommodations.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- 3+ years of experience in equipment operation, maintenance, or equivalent technical school training.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain a passport (paid for by the company).
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Knowledge or experience in the meat or food-processing industry.
- Experience traveling for work.
