Position Overview:

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for customer projects, including installation, commissioning, and project manuals. This role ensures that all documentation is clear, accurate and aligned with engineering standards and customer requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

Documentation Development:

  • Prepare comprehensive project manuals, installation guides and commissioning instructions.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documents.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology, formatting and branding across all documents.
  • Verify that all documents are kept up to date through our document control procedures.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with project engineers, design teams and field service personnel to gather technical data.
  • Participate in project meetings to understand scope and documentation requirements.
  • Work closely with our customers to ensure you have a clear understanding of their requirements.

Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure documentation meets industry standards (IEC, ISO) and customer specifications.
  • Maintain version control and document traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Update documentation based on design changes, feedback, and lessons learned.
  • Develop templates and best practices for future projects.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Diploma or Degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or related field.
  • +3 years' experience as a Technical Writer in engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Previous experience with electrical switchgear or similar technical products preferred.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a very high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and document management systems.
  • Familiarity with standards for technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, written communication and organizational skills.
