Description
Seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to support the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of critical plant utility systems, with a strong emphasis on industrial ammonia (NH3) refrigeration and PSM compliance. This role works closely with Maintenance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, safety, and regulatory adherence.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- 5+ years experience operating industrial ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems
- Hands-on experience with multi-stage ammonia compression systems
- Strong knowledge of IIAR ammonia safety standards
- Direct involvement with Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical control systems (Frick or GES)
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of the physics of the refrigeration cycle
- Experience completing and documenting preventive maintenance (PMs)
- Working knowledge of LOTO, PPE, and Hazard Communication
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Associate degree in HVACR, Refrigeration, or Electrical
- RETA and/or CIRO certification
- Trade school certification or equivalent training
- Experience with:
- Screw compressors
- Evaporative condensers & room cooling evaporators
- Boilers and hot water systems
- Cooling towers, chillers, and pumps
- Compressed air systems and air dryers
- HVAC systems
- Facilities plumbing and pipefitting
- Experience training or mentoring maintenance technicians
- Emergency Response Team participation
- Background in maintenance reliability programs
- Experience in food manufacturing or regulated industrial environments
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
