Description
The Senior Generator Technician serves as the lead technical expert for complex generator and engine system diagnostics, maintenance, and repair. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting field operations, mentoring technicians, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across a range of generator systems.
The role involves advanced troubleshooting, commissioning, preventive maintenance oversight, and coordination with internal teams and external contractors on complex projects.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
• 7+ years of hands-on generator service and repair experience at a senior level
• Strong experience with diesel, natural gas, and propane engine systems
• Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills and ability to read schematics and diagrams
• Experience with generator control platforms (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp, Basler, Woodward, Cummins, Kohler)
• Strong understanding of Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) systems
• Proven leadership experience mentoring or training technicians
• Strong communication and documentation skills

• Execute and oversee preventive maintenance programs including load bank testing and fluid analysis
• Identify potential system failures and provide recommendations to customers
• Coordinate with contractors and trades on installations and commissioning projects
• Conduct site assessments and support project planning and estimating
• Lead complex jobs and ensure work is completed to specifications
• Provide remote and on-site technical support to other technicians
• Mentor and develop junior technicians through training and guidance
• Complete detailed service reports and documentation
