Description
Travel: Local travel, this position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories.
Position Description:
The primary objectives of the Service technicians are:
- the proficient repair and service of the customer's equipment
- to maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management
- to represent and sell the entire company
- maintain and exceed productivity goals
- work within all safety guidelines established by company and OSHA
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair all types of equipment that company sells and services.
- Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
- Train other employees as needed.
- Maintain a profitable billing level.
- Follow all Service Department procedures.
- Communicate with assigned Field Supervisor.
- Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
- Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
- Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
- Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
- Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle.
- Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
- Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
- Establish a positive rapport with customers.
- Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to deal with customers on a face-to-face basis.
- Must have working knowledge of basic D.C. electricity, basic A.C. electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with no more than the allowable level of points on record, if applicable.
- Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list.
- Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
- Must have working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Must have mechanical abilities.
