Travel: Local travel, this position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories.

Position Description:

The primary objectives of the Service technicians are:

  • the proficient repair and service of the customer's equipment
  • to maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management
  • to represent and sell the entire company
  • maintain and exceed productivity goals
  • work within all safety guidelines established by company and OSHA

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repair all types of equipment that company sells and services.
  • Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Maintain a profitable billing level.
  • Follow all Service Department procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned Field Supervisor.
  • Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
  • Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
  • Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle.
  • Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Establish a positive rapport with customers.
  • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to deal with customers on a face-to-face basis.
  • Must have working knowledge of basic D.C. electricity, basic A.C. electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with no more than the allowable level of points on record, if applicable.
  • Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list.
  • Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
  • Must have working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Must have mechanical abilities.
