About the Role

MSHS Pacific Power Group is seeking a skilled Control Systems Technician with a strong mechanical background to support the repair, overhaul, and calibration of precision-engineered control components. This role combines hands-on shop work with field service travel to diagnose and repair engine control systems for a variety of customers and applications.

You'll work both independently and as part of a team, representing MSHS professionally in high-pressure environments and directly supporting customers with critical equipment needs.

This role is being recruited in partnership with Orion Talent through the BlueForge Alliance Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) program, a nationwide initiative supporting workforce growth across the U.S. defense and maritime industrial base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, overhaul, and calibrate mechanical and electro-mechanical control components (e.g., governors, actuators, and related parts such as Woodward, Regulators Europa, Diesel Kiki, Heinzmann).
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble components in accordance with OEM standards and best practices.
  • Perform shop-based and field service work, including emergency support, troubleshooting, and on-site customer visits.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams via phone, email, and in person.
  • Assist with assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical cabinets and engineered control systems.
  • Accurately track job time, parts usage, and complete service reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace, following all safety and quality protocols.
  • Represent MSHS as a professional brand ambassador while on customer sites.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience repairing and calibrating mechanical control equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic systems knowledge, with a good understanding of engine auxiliaries.
  • Basic electrical skills, including reading schematics and using diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters).
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); basic photo editing is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues and train customers effectively.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a collaborative team player.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel on short notice when required.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical or control system repair.
