Laura Schmiegel

Laura Schmiegel serves as Senior Vice President of Workforce Partnerships for Orion Talent, where she leads strategic collaborations with government and private sector organizations to expand opportunities for military and veteran talent. Since joining Orion in 2021, Laura has been instrumental in driving growth and scale through partnerships that strengthen Orion's mission and national impact.

For more than a decade, Laura has been a recognized leader in military talent advocacy, program development, and partnership strategy. Before joining Orion, she founded and led multiple initiatives that bridged the gap between the military and civilian workforce. She co-founded Blue Star Families to help military families connect with their local communities, launched the Military Spouse Program at Hiring Our Heroes, and created the Military Affairs team at Booz Allen Hamilton, where her team received the firm's highest honor, the Booz Allen Excellence Award. Laura also received the Hiring Our Heroes Endres Award for Lifetime Achievement in recognition of her long-standing contributions to military employment and advocacy.

Earlier in her career, Laura practiced law for eight years. She earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. A proud military spouse of more than 20 years, Laura is currently building a home in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where she lives with her husband, Kevin, and their dogs.
