Go to end ⇓As a Commissioning/Qualification/Validation Project Engineer, you lead project teams including Project Engineers to deliver systems that are safe, functional, and compliant with design requirements and regulations. You are accountable for overall project execution, client communication, financial management, and team leadership to ensure successful outcomes. This is a full-time, 1st shift exempt position that reports to the President and is in North Carolina.
Primary responsibilities of the position include:
- Lead project scope evaluation and develop commissioning and qualification plans in collaboration with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders.
- Develop project estimates and proposals. Develop change orders as necessary.
- Manage and coordinate project deliverables across commissioning, qualification, and validation disciplines, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met or exceeded.
- Supervise Project Engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, performance management, and conducting regular performance reviews.
- Delegates project tasks to Project Engineers, based on complexity and experience. Reviews and approves documentation prepared by Project Engineers and Technical Writers.
- Monitor project schedules and resource allocation, adjusting plans as necessary to meet company objectives and utilization targets.
- Ensure comprehensive project documentation complies with internal and client standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, CFR), and Company policies and procedures.
- Oversee project budgets, track performance against financial metrics, communicate billing needs, and develop and submit change orders as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, attending meetings, managing expectations, building relationships, and pursuing new work opportunities.
- Promote a culture of safety by ensuring OSHA and other relevant regulations are followed on all projects.
- Regular and reliable attendance at work.
Additional responsibilities of the position include:
- Other duties as assigned by Company Management.
- Complete required company training each month.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Extensive experience in capital project delivery, construction, commissioning, and document management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with ability to mentor and develop staff.
- Exceptional project management, organizational, and multitasking capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing client relationships at all levels.
- Demonstrated financial acumen to manage project budgets and billing processes effectively.
- High degree of technical knowledge in commissioning, qualification, validation, and related construction processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Working Conditions:
- On site.
- Perform work at desk in office.
- Travel to local customer sites when needed.
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The typical schedule is based on an eight-hour workday and a forty-hour workweek, excluding meal breaks. Employees typically take a 30-60-minute unpaid lunch break during the day. Because our work supports construction and commissioning activities, work hours may vary based on project requirements, client needs, or site conditions.
