I had heard about Orion several times while I was on active duty. The reason I contacted Orion was that a peer who was also leaving the military was fruitfully working with Orion at the same time I was working with other recruiting agencies with no real results.

Todd Phillips was my recruiter. Even though I contacted him less than a week before the Chicago conference, he worked very efficiently to bring me on board and ensured the companies he lined up were of interest to me, even making last minute changes to ensure I was satisfied.

The hiring conference led to multiple second interviews within the next two weeks. The companies Orion brought in were looking to hire immediately, not take two months trying to figure out which way was up.

I will be starting as a Senior Analyst in Strategic Supply Management for Whirlpools Global Information Systems division. I see a number of parallels between this position and my military experience, from understanding the basics of technology and how it functions, to logistics support of technology, and further into the management of contractors and personnel outside my direct sphere of influence. There are many parallels and the military has definitely prepared me to face the challenges of them all.

I was a Captain in the Army Signal Corps. Being a Signal Officer prepared me to start a new career in the Information Technology realm fairly well. It gave me the area specific skills but also gave me a broader skill set then most people. Instead of working with just IT, I have experience in leadership, logistics, team work, etc. All the things you learn in the military are not easy find in one person in the civilian market.

Orion gave me opportunities I never even dreamed of getting. They easily surpassed other recruiting agencies I have worked with. Todd and his team paid close attention to my progress and informed me of what to expect from each company. With other agencies, I found that, after the initial hiring conference was over, there was very little follow up and there tended to be little to no effort for over a month before I was contacted again. Overall it felt as if they had hung me out to dry.

Of all the three agencies I worked with during my transition, Orion not only exceeded my expectations and crushed the competition, but they also brought quality companies to the table that were looking to hire now. Unlike many of the companies I looked at with other recruiting agencies, I did not have to worry about taking a massive pay cut while transitioning. Even companies that may have provided a lower pay salary had incentives that would have made the financial transition nearly seamless.

Orion brought the best to the table and has given me opportunities I did not see anywhere else. Orion gave me the best experience, and I will be happy to help more officers find their way to your organization. Thanks again.
