Corporate Warehouse Manager

Northeast
US Army, O-3

I started looking for jobs on my own in October 2012 and had a couple call backs and one interview. But the HR managers I spoke with had a difficult time understanding how I had so much experience in many different fields and often questioned the validity of my resume.

I was an Army Captain Medical Service Officer and was an instructor of Medical Logistics prior to leaving Active Duty. I was very fortunate to have worked in the logistics field for the last several years in the Army. I feel like Military Officers encompass many of the skills employers are seeking in today's market, such as leadership and the flexibility to work under difficult and demanding circumstances and still complete the mission.

I worked with Chris Hurst and Nora Liles. I am sure my success was directly related to the positive teaching attitude of Chris and Nora. They were both very patient and listened to each of my requests and fit the companies I interviewed with to my personality and experience.

Orion was great throughout my entire hiring process. Everyone was helpful. I worked very closely with the Account Executive and my recruiter each day after my initial interviews.

I am now a Corporate Warehouse Manager with Best Buy. I think it is a great fit for me. The supervisor responsibility is a step above my previous experience in the Army and offers plenty of room for professional development and growth within the company.

Orion wins hand down over other recruiting agencies. In 2011, I was thinking of getting out of the Army and began working with another agency. The other agency was very pushy and didn't listen to what field of employment or location I was interested in. When I attended their hiring conference, they gave me false feedback so that I would be more aggressive. And while I did have several offers from my interviews, none of them were in a field I was interested in spending the next several years of my life. I ultimately decided to stay in the Army for an additional year and called Orion.
