Engineering Manager

Midwest
US Navy, O-3

I separated from the Navy as a Lieutenant in 2007 and worked as a Project Manager for an engineering consulting firm for four years.  In January 2011, I was interested in finding a new career for various reasons, so I contacted Orion. I worked with Todd Phillips at Orion and found him to be outstanding. Within a month, Todd had identified a perfect match for me at Dayton Power & Light.

My background as a Surface Nuclear Officer prepared me well for the challenges I would face in the private sector.  My service has proven invaluable to me as it has opened the doors for many opportunities that otherwise would not have been possible.  Without question, my naval nuclear experience has been viewed as the single most important part of my resume by the two employers I’ve worked for since leaving the Navy and that includes my graduate degree and my professional engineering license.

I used the services of five recruiting services during my job search, and Orion definitely outperformed the others.  Simply put, Orion provided more opportunities to me, including the job I would ultimately accept. Todd was always forthright and honest with me and this played a huge part in making my job search a success.

Orion has proven to me that not only can they assist transitioning veterans, but they can also help professionals with prior service.  I was looking for a professional engineering position with a power company in a very specific location, and Orion was able to deliver exactly what I was looking for.  Needless to say, I am more than satisfied with Orion’s services!
