Logistics Analyst

Northeast
US Army, O-3

I am very happy to have gotten a job in this economy with the help of Orion International. Orion stacks up well against their competition. I think they were better than any other recruiting agency I worked with.  My recruiter, Mike Wood, was very personable, and he constantly kept me in the loop regarding new job leads. He was helpful and friendly about all of my job-related questions. I found Mike to be much more helpful than other recruiters at other agencies. He genuinely wanted to find me a job that I liked, not just a job.

I left the military in June 2009, but I really only started looking in the beginning of September 2009. I was an Army Captain in Logistics/Transportation and feel my training in the military prepared me for the chemicals/glass industry. I did a lot of what I do now, only I was doing it in relation to soldiers, vehicles, and equipment, instead of raw materials or products. The military also provided me with a good work ethic.

I am now a Logistics Analyst with International Specialty Products Inc. There are a lot of parallels between my job and the military, as mentioned above. Our meetings flow very much like a staff brief to a battalion commander. I also have to lead projects, track shipments, prepare proper documentation for shipments, follow up on taskings, and contact people to make sure they are on the same page as our headquarters. These are all things that I did in the military, and now I am doing them in a civilian setting.

Mike Wood and Gary Sadler, ISP’s account executive, did an excellent job in helping me find a job and preparing me for the interviews. They prepped me and gave me great information about the company I was applying for, as well as who my interviewers were. I am very thankful for their hard work. The only regret that I have is not calling Orion earlier.
