Field Service Engineer

West
US Navy, E-5

I left the military in January 2009 and was laid off from my civilian job in July 2009, due to my company outsourcing to China. I was aware of Orion from my initial job search in December 2008, so when I lost my job in July, I called Quang Truong that day. I found Orion to be professional, helpful, courteous, and encouraging. Every staff member I spoke with gave me a lot of information that was helpful in my job search.

“Q” helped me clean up my resume, which helped me to get more hits from companies. Then I went to a hiring conference where we were given a ton of help with interview skills, etc... Q and Gino Marchetti did a great job getting me interviews and helping me prepare what I should say during interviews.

The position I now hold is a Field Service Engineer with Hitachi Medical Systems of America. I will be working in the New York City area. In the Navy, I was an E-5, Second Class Petty Officer, and I was an Electronics Technician. My training and service in the Navy gave me a strong background in electronics. This prepared me quite well for the civilian world, even though I didn't have direct experience in the fields I was applying for.

Orion got me tons of interviews, prepped me for interviews, and got me a job that is going to pay $10 an hour better than I was making!!!! They did a much better job than the competition. Every other recruiter I worked with got me interviews for the worst jobs. They were all second shift, terrible pay, and terrible benefits. Every company Orion set me up with had great pay and benefits and would have been great companies to work for.
