Orion International allowed me to interface directly with company representatives who were actively looking for individuals coming out of the military. I had some initial correspondence with Orion while I was still in the military and actively began to pursue using Orion services shortly before leaving the Army. Orion was the only recruiter I worked with. I did contact another agency in order to keep all doors open, but they declined to work with me when I expressed specific needs.

I worked with JP Sniffen and Dan Young, among others, leading up to the June Distinguished Candidate Conference. Prior to the DCC, I sat in on the preparatory web conference and then was at the DCC for two days. During the second day of the DCC, I interviewed with eight companies of which four wanted to follow up. I held second interviews with two companies in Las Vegas and ultimately accepted an offer from Clark Construction. The time between the conference and accepting the offer was approximately three weeks.

The conference allowed me to put my strengths at the forefront of the interview process through the prep web seminar, as well as the first day of the conference. This allowed me to be as prepared as possible for each interview, which ultimately turned into a job with Clark Construction in Las Vegas. I started work with Clark as a Project Engineer on August 25th. The job was almost exactly what I was looking for (initial position, potential, and location all factored in).
