Environmental Services Supervisor

West
US Air Force, O-3

I was an Air Force Space and Missiles Operations Officer and separated as a Captain in September 2007. I started looking for jobs in February/ March of 2007. I had been working with another recruiting firm and wasn't getting any interviews. They weren't holding any hiring conferences in the foreseeable future in my area (Seattle), and I was told that my background didn’t fit and that the companies weren’t hiring for my location for the one conference they were holding. I was getting frustrated with the lack of results, so I did an internet search for other military/veteran-specific placement firms and found Orion International. I registered with the website and got an immediate response.

JP Sniffen and Katrina Ross were my recruiters. I was very happy with the level of treatment that I have received from all of the Orion staff that I have spoken with either through email, the phone, or in person at hiring events. The Orion staff was friendly and responsive. I was very limited in the locations in which I was willing to work because of my husband's job and family's needs. I felt that that was as high of a priority to my recruiters as it was to me.

I met the CB Richard Ellis Human Resources recruiter at an Orion hiring conference here in Seattle and interviewed for a different job than I ultimately accepted. The hiring conference was a great experience - very organized and professional. About a week after the hiring event, I received a call from Katrina saying that the CBRE folks had me in mind for a different position. (Everyone at Orion works very hard to ensure you are being presented with all of the opportunities possible.) She sent me the job description and asked if I would be interested in interviewing on-site. I responded to Katrina at around 5:30 in the evening, and I was contacted the next morning by CBRE to set up an interview. After the interview, I contacted Katrina to let her know that it went well and that I was interested in the position; less than a week letter I was offered the job.

I am now the Environmental Services Supervisor. I thought I would end up with a defense contractor or Boeing vendor but ended up in a position I had never really thought of. I'm really excited about the position. The competition failed to meet my needs - Orion came through! There is absolutely no reason that I can think of not to use Orion. There is no cost to the job seeker, and there is nothing to lose. You have everything to gain!
