Quality Engineer

Midwest
US Air Force, O-3

Orion International is perfectly placed to understand the military career and where its attributes may be useful in corporate America. They presented me with options that I may not have recognized, even with the tons of internet research I did. Thanks to Orion, I separated from the Air Force as a Captain in July knowing I had already landed a job in May! Todd Phillips, my recruiter, treated me very well. He presented me with several good options at the Chicago conference, including GE Healthcare, where I now work! The interviewing process consisted of phone interviews/discussions, then the conference, then placement in GE’s military hiring event. Those conferences are a great way to really get your feet wet when you’ve never interviewed before. I read about it, prepared for the questions, had a bit of practice with the Transition Assistance Program, and then a bit of practice the day before with Orion, but nothing beats actually doing it seven times your first day!

I am now a Safety and Regulatory Engineer in the Diagnostic Imaging section of GE Healthcare. Honestly, I would not have necessarily thought that GE might hire me for this job had I not been presented to it. I have long been fascinated with Diagnostic imaging, and since college, I wondered if I might be able to get into that area one day (although the military had other plans for me). Orion was able to entertain my interests, experience, and geographic desires. Simply put, I was extremely pleased. Orion did a great job! I have a new job in an entirely new area. This GE job was a true homerun for me.
