Description
We are seeking a mechanically inclined, technically curious Field Service Technician to assist experienced field engineers with the maintenance, testing, and inspection of electrical power distribution equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong electro-mechanical aptitude who want to build a long-term career in the electrical power industry. Previous experience is not required, and on-the-job training is provided. Military veterans with electrical, mechanical, nuclear power, or power generation backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance, testing, and inspection of electrical distribution equipment.
- Safely operate tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Travel to customer sites to support scheduled maintenance, testing, and commissioning projects.
- Work alongside experienced field engineers to learn technical procedures and troubleshooting methods.
- Complete required documentation and communicate findings effectively with team members.
- Follow all electrical safety procedures and company standards.
- Work scheduled overtime and occasional off-hours outages, including overnight travel as needed.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Strong electro-mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- No previous field service or electrical testing experience required; training provided.
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology preferred, but not required.
- Military veterans with Navy nuclear, electrical, mechanical, power generation, or equipment maintenance experience are encouraged to apply.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete technical documentation.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%, including overnight stays.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with random testing requirements.
