Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining sophisticated industrial manufacturing equipment, including vacuum coating and custom tempering lines. This position performs preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, emergency repairs, component replacement, and projects designed to improve equipment reliability, safety, and production efficiency.

The role requires strong hands-on mechanical and/or electrical maintenance skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment including motors, pumps, drives, controls, electrical systems, pneumatics, conveyors, vacuum systems, automated equipment, and other industrial machinery.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Minimum 4 years of manufacturing maintenance and/or technical school mechanical maintenance experience
  • Strong industrial mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining industrial production equipment
  • Experience with motors, pumps, valves, controls, chain drives, and belt drives
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience with systems ranging from 24V controls through 480V three-phase
  • Experience with pneumatic systems, manifolds, valves, and gauges
  • Experience troubleshooting photo-eye and proximity sensors
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical equipment, including PLC- and VFD-controlled equipment
  • Ability to safely remove, install, align, and troubleshoot gears, motors, bearings, shafts, sensors, and flanges
  • Experience with industrial hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic/test equipment
  • Experience with pumps, motors, drives, calipers, and test meters
  • Working knowledge of LOTO procedures and proper PPE requirements
  • Ability to select appropriate bolts and torque specifications
  • Experience performing equipment lubrication and oil changes
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, diagnostics, and emergency repairs
  • Ability to document maintenance work, PMs, repairs, and parts requirements
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to utilize a CMMS to document and update preventive maintenance activities
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance and production team
  • Ability to safely maneuver heavy equipment, materials, and parts with or without material-handling equipment
  • Ability to work the 12-hour rotating night schedule and occasional scheduled overtime
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with Cal-OSHA requirements
