Position Description:
As a CHP Technician, you will operate and maintain Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems and microgrid assets. You’ll work directly with power generation equipment—engines, generators, heat exchangers—and control systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and uptime. This role is vital to delivering reliable and resilient on-site energy solutions.

You’ll work directly with power generation equipment—engines, generators, heat exchangers—and control systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and uptime. This role is vital to delivering reliable and resilient on-site energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain CHP and microgrid systems to ensure >97% uptime
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical components (generators, pumps, heat exchangers)
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled engine maintenance, including full engine tear-downs
- Diagnose faults using digital and analog diagnostic tools
- Ensure safe system operation and full compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Accurately document maintenance activities and system performance
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous technical improvement
Qualifications:
- Experience operating or maintaining CHP systems, power generation units, or gas/diesel engines
- Hands-on mechanical experience with high-speed/medium-speed engines, pumps, and heat exchangers
- Skilled in troubleshooting electrical systems (wiring, controls, relays)
- Proficient with computer-based tools (Windows OS, scheduling software, instant messaging platforms)
- Self-starter comfortable working independently in the field
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license required
