Position Details:
Title: Maintenance Manager (Mobile Equipment Shop)
Location: Mountain Iron, MN
Shift: Rotating 12-hour shift with 7-on, 7-off days & nights.
Compensation: $80K-$95K+ base salary + straight O/T (these are salaried, non-exempt positions) + 10-11% target bonus with multipliers that can make bonus over 20% (half paid out quarterly, the balance paid annually) + relocation including temporary lodging, relocation of household goods, and final destination travel. Salary Level & Compensation will be based on experience. Total Annual W2 $100-$140K+

Position Description: The Minnesota Ore Operations of the company includes two facilities that continuously mine and produce the essential raw material for the company’s steel plants. These are Union facilities and environments, so coming into the company as a Manager will be both challenging and rewarding. Unless you have steel industry manufacturing experience, you must be capable of moving into an environment where you have the least product knowledge and industry experience yet are the responsible leader who must create team cohesion and produce quality results. These positions are about guiding a group of experienced steel workers along the path to high productivity and excellence, while mastering the overall aspects of the steel business at the front-line supervision level. Due to the nature of the business, the facilities operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year. This position?may require work outside of normal hours during plant shutdown & any unplanned outages.
As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible and accountable for all the maintenance activities in your assigned Division. These are front-line leadership roles positions in which you will supervise, schedule, direct and motivate Maintenance personnel for production. You will be responsible for overseeing all the maintenance programs associated with all maintenance operations. Primarily you will be responsible for applying maintenance leadership and principles, troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to evaluate and make decisions that resolve operational, production, or maintenance conditions and improve reliability. You will supervise, direct, and coordinate efforts of experienced operators, associates, technicians, craftsmen to repair and maintain equipment, to maximize operating efficiencies, and to improve reliability. You will use your leadership to effectively engage teams and promote an environment of respect, communication, and collaboration through two-way communication and encouraging new ideas and different perspectives driving individual, team, and company success. Key duties include:
• Administer the safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping.
• Directly supervise union employees and work closely with vendors and contactors.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties accordingly.
• Schedule, coordinate, organize, and direct activities of crews, including completing reports, safety briefs, etc.
• Assist workers in diagnosing machinery/equipment malfunction; maintain inventory for efficient operations.
• Coordinate production or repairs and maintenance with a team of mechanical/electrical staff.
• Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures, and schedules for production or to follow, improve, and develop preventative and routine maintenance programs.
• Develop/implement cost savings, methods, & procedures to eliminate problems & improve product quality.

This position is in the Mobile Equipment Shop, which is responsible for the complete upkeep, service, and repair of all Mobile Equipment mining equipment, which includes large ton trucks, dozers, loaders, and all mobile support equipment for mining and production operations. The Mobile Equipment shop has 4 Maintenance Supervisors who rotate leadership responsibilities for shifts and crews. You will supervise 10-15 maintenance professionals on a rotating crew. This position is ideal for candidates with maintenance leadership experience in automotive or diesel shops or in military motor pools, mechanized divisions/units, or flightline maintenance operations.

Requirements: Candidates must have a H.S. diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience leading work crews in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment; and outstanding leadership. Candidates must have good general mechanical maintenance knowledge and ideally some experience fixing automotive/industrial equipment systems. Candidates should have the ability to demonstrate some knowledge/experience in managing Maintenance Programs (planned/preventative/emergency). This is a very industrial, blue-collar environment that requires a keen eye for safety & being comfortable “rolling your sleeves up” & leading credibly from the floor. Candidates must pass a pre-employment hair follicle drug test as the company has a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol for safe steelmaking operations.
