Position Details: Title: CNC Machinist Location: Yankton, SD Shifts Available: A) Monday-Friday Day Shift B) Monday-Friday Night Shift C) 3-Day Weekend shift (Friday 8 hours - 6am-2:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 12 hours - 5am-5:30pm) Compensation: $23.50-$31/hour (Depending on experience) + OT Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision insurance / 401(K) / Holidays + PTO Travel: None Position Description: A Setup/CNC machinist is responsible for performing day to day CNC setup operations on a rail system(s). This person must have the ability to setup, operate, and perform CNC operations with maximum machine utilization. It is critical that the individual(s) capable of this position have exceptional communication and multitasking skills. Duties and Responsibilities: Proactively communicates with supervisor, engineers, programmers, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments or priorities and to resolve machining or quality issues while minimizing downtime. Daily use of basic math skills; including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication. Must be adaptable to a continuously changing work environment, is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Expected to meet set deadlines for new setups and help meet production due dates with continued daily support as opportunities arise. Actively engaged with manufacturing personnel in developing and implement constant/repeatable processes and continuous improvement activities. Detects machine malfunctions or out of tolerance conditions per customer specifications and corrects them within capabilities. Able to complete appropriate documentation and change logs associated with daily job responsibilities. Responsible for tool management on assigned lines. Assists line tech with slow and dead tooling as well as identifying tooling improvements that can be made. Responsible for part fixture maintenance and modification to support continuous improvement. Responsible for continued training of CNC loaders as changes, modifications, or improvements are made. Achieve or exceed production objectives including safety, quality, schedule, and cost. Proficient computer skills and able to submit and communicate clear accurate data and information. Requirements: 2 year technical degree in CNC precision machining or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating a CNC machining systems in a manufacturing environment. Intermediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments. Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures and other various accessories Knowledge reading blueprint drawings, and specifications; experience with geometric tolerancing preferred Individual must be able to work with little to no supervision after initial training period, showing a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and excellent work ethic Work Conditions: The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this Position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will work in a manufacturing environment. The employee works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places. This position is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and sharp tooling or objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; the employee is required to reach with hands and arms and may occasionally sit. This position requires the ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. | |
