Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Job Ref: # 4450136
Date Posted: 9/10/2026 12:00:00 AM
City, State: Kansas City, Missouri
Category: Manufacturing
Salary: $180,000 - $250,000

Description

Reporting to the COO, the Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Reliability is a senior, working leader responsible for establishing a new enterprise capability within the Operational Innovation & Excellence Center (OIEC), that elevates how the company's plants operate, maintain critical assets, integrate capital improvements, and adopt future-ready operational technologies. This is an operations-facing engineering role focused on the physical performance, process reliability, equipment capability, and infrastructure across the North American manufacturing network. It is not a product design, product development, or laboratory R&D position.

The Director serves as the technical engine of the OIEC, identifying constraints on the plant floor and turning them into practical, sustainable engineering solutions. As a brand-new role and function, success will not come from managing an established department, but from building an operating model from the ground up. The Director must lead through a complex matrix - partnering with Plant Leadership, Operations, Maintenance, the PMO, IT/OT, and external engineering firms - establishing consensus on standards where none exist today, creating momentum amid ambiguity, and remaining directly accountable for field-level operational impact.

Location: Kansas City or Remote (near major airport)

Key Responsibilities - Rather than administering isolated activities, the Director drives five core pillars that connect day-to-day plant realities with enterprise strategy:

Engineering Process & Equipment Optimization - Translate plant floor bottlenecks into high-value engineering solutions that improve throughput, safety, and operating margins across treating, material handling, and utilities.

  • Process & Bottleneck Engineering: Partnering to analyze operational workflows, chemical treating processes, drying cycles, and yard material flow to eliminate constraints and reduce cycle times.
  • Equipment & Facility Capability: Evaluate industrial equipment condition, capability, obsolescence, and total cost of ownership; formulate sound engineering alternatives for retrofits, replacements, or capacity debottlenecking.
  • Engineering-Led Continuous Improvement: Apply disciplined problem-solving and CI methodologies with deep engineering rigor, ensuring process modifications are technically sound, safe, and adopted into standard operating procedures.
  • Repeatable Solutions: Identify high-impact solutions at one facility and adapt them across the network, accounting for unique plant layouts and regional operating contexts.

Asset Reliability & Maintenance Strategy - Build the enterprise reliability framework and technical foundation needed to shift facilities from reactive repairs to predictive asset health, in close partnership with plant maintenance.

  • Reliability Capability Building: Develop and roll out consensus-based reliability frameworks, introducing asset criticality modeling, bad-actor resolution, and lifecycle asset management to plants across the enterprise.
  • Maintenance System Standards: Identify opportunities to establish practical corporate methodologies for preventive/predictive maintenance (PM/PdM), condition monitoring, vibration/oil analysis, and critical spares philosophy without overburdening plant personnel.
  • Chronic Failure Elimination: Act as the senior technical resource for plants facing recurring equipment failures, facilitating structured root-cause analysis (RCA) and permanent corrective redesigns.
  • Field Partnership & Transition: Respect plant autonomy, day-to-day maintenance execution remains with local plant teams, while this role provides the technical standards, coaching, and engineering muscle to build long-term site capability.

Capital Project & PMO Integration - Lead the technical and engineering governance of capital initiatives, partnering with the PMO, plant operations, and outside engineering firms to ensure projects are operatble, maintainable, and built to company standards.

  • Early Conceptual Engineering: Partner with Operations and the PMO at project inception to define technical problem statements, design bases, engineering alternatives, and preliminary technical scopes and estimates.
  • Liaison & Specification Alignment: Partner with the PM and plant teams to translate operational needs into rigorous equipment and engineering specifications, interfacing directly with outside architectural/engineering (A&E) firms on technical requirements.
  • Technical Quality Assurance: Review and challenge third-party engineering designs to guarantee that constructability, operability, maintainability, and safety codes are strictly satisfied prior to procurement and installation.

Automation, Controls & Operational Technology (OT) - Lead the manufacturing-engineering workstream for Automation and AI Roadmap (Project Blueprint), ensuring technology is deployed on a solid operational foundation.

  • Foundation-First Execution: Ground all automation investments in the core principle that automation requires stable foundations: Maintenance, Process, Controls, and Data. Avoid automating chaos or placing sensors on unmaintained assets.
  • Use-Case & Business-Case Development: Identify, evaluate, and prioritize practical use cases for robotics, automated material handling, inline vision inspection, and sensor instrumentation that deliver verifiable payback (ROIC, EBITDA, EPS).
  • IT/OT Partnership: Partner closely with the separate IT/OT team to ensure plant controls, PLCs, edge devices, and historian architectures align seamlessly with enterprise cybersecurity and infrastructure standards.
  • Frontline Adoption: Ensure automation programs integrate comprehensive change management, training, and standard work so plant crews embrace and sustain new operational technologies.

Engineering Standards, Governance & Leadership - Establish the technical operating baseline while developing a lean, high-performing technical team that leads through influence and expertise.

  • Enterprise Engineering Standards: Formulate common design, construction, equipment, and documentation specifications for facilities, treating systems, and physical plant assets.
  • Knowledge Repository: Create an accessible technical knowledge base documenting proven solutions, equipment benchmarks, vendor performance, and lessons learned across the network.
  • Talent & Matrix Leadership: Directly lead and mentor the initial Engineering & Reliability team while establishing an active, trusted presence in the field that gains alignment across operations, finance, and safety.
  • Expert Management: Recognize technical knowledge gaps, identify and engage specialized external engineering experts and OEMs, manage their delivery tightly, and retain ultimate accountability for project success.

Qualifications and Background:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial) is strongly preferred. Equivalent technical education combined with proven engineering and operational leadership will be considered.
  • Leadership Track Record: Demonstrated success leading teams, projects, units, or complex operational functions in high-accountability, performance-driven environments.
  • Operational & Technical Breadth: Sound working grasp of process execution, heavy equipment, process flow, controls, maintenance systems, or capital projects, with the intellectual agility to lead multidisciplinary initiatives.
  • Learning Agility: Proven ability to enter an unfamiliar industry, ask incisive questions, assess operational reality, and leverage technical SMEs effectively.
  • Executive & Field Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, capital risks, and business cases to both frontline workers and senior executive leadership.
  • Travel Commitment: Willingness and ability to travel 50%-60% across manufacturing facilities in the United States and Canada.
  • Certifications (Valued, Not Required): PE license, CMRP/CRL (reliability), PMP, or Lean/Six Sigma credentials.

Leadership Profile - a decisive, mission-oriented leader who thrives in dynamic environments where direction must be established, consensus built, and results delivered.

  • Mission-Oriented: Translates high-level corporate vision into clear, prioritized, and executable operational roadmaps.
  • Decisive Under Uncertainty: Comfortable making sound decisions with imperfect data; moves work forward and course-corrects quickly as facts evolve.
  • Extreme Accountability: Takes personal ownership of outcomes rather than shifting responsibility to contractors, consultants, or matrix partners.
  • Quick Study & Adaptable: Quickly grasps the nuances of wood-treating chemistry, heavy mechanical handling, and rail/utility logistics.
  • Operationally Credible: Equally comfortable in executive boardrooms, A&E design sessions, and walking the plant yard in steel-toed boots with operators and millwrights.
  • Collaborative Consensus Builder: Builds trust across plant and corporate boundaries, driving standardization through partnership rather than mandate.

Company Description:

Our client is a leading North American manufacturer of electrical distribution and transmission infrastructure products.

Why this opportunity?

The company has grown significantly in the last decade. To foster continued growth, they have invested in capital improvements and expanded their lines of business through acquisition. Given this growth, they are establishing a Manufacturing Engineering and Reliability Center of Excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to build and grow this team from the ground up. If you are a high-ownership, adaptable and collaborative leader who can design/build/implement systems and structure, drive transformation, effectively influence in a matrixed environment, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to increase operational efficiency, this may be the right opportunity for you.

Description

Social Media Manager

Complete Home Services

Location: Atoka, TN | Hybrid

Pay: $24.00 to $29.00 per hour

Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

Travel: Approximately 25% regional travel

Bring Our Brands to Life

Complete Home Services is looking for a creative, organized, and field-connected Social Media Manager to lead the day-to-day execution of social media across our portfolio of home-service brands.

This is not a role where every day is spent behind a desk. The Social Media Manager will visit branches, job sites, community events, and company activities to capture the real people and real work behind our brands. The right candidate will know how to turn those moments into engaging photos, videos, stories, reels, posts, and campaigns.

This is a hands-on individual-contributor role for someone who can manage multiple brand voices, keep content calendars moving, create strong mobile-first content, and use performance data to improve what we publish.

What You Will Do

Own the Social Media Rhythm

  • Plan, schedule, publish, and quality-check content across approved social media channels.
  • Maintain coordinated content calendars for multiple CHS brands.
  • Keep content timely, consistent, and aligned with each brand’s voice and audience.
  • Monitor comments, messages, and mentions.
  • Respond within established guidelines and route sensitive customer, employee, or reputation concerns to the appropriate internal partner.

Capture Authentic Content

  • Travel to CHS branches, job sites, community events, and company activities approximately 25% of the time.
  • Capture high-quality photos and short-form video using mobile-first equipment and tools.
  • Create reels, stories, videos, posts, and other platform-specific content.
  • Write clear, engaging social copy that fits the channel and brand.
  • Organize content assets, approvals, permissions, and usage records.

Support Multiple Brands

  • Adjust tone, messaging, visual treatment, and content strategy for each CHS brand.
  • Partner with Marketing, branch teams, field employees, recruiting, and other internal groups to identify strong content opportunities.
  • Support campaigns, local-market priorities, recruiting efforts, community activities, and company events.
  • Source and repurpose approved content created by customers and employees.

Measure and Improve

  • Track audience growth, reach, engagement, content performance, and other agreed-upon measures.
  • Identify the topics, formats, channels, and publishing times that generate the strongest response.
  • Use performance results and platform changes to improve future content.
  • Share practical insights and recommendations with Marketing leadership.

Protect the Brands

  • Follow company expectations related to brand standards, customer and employee privacy, content permissions, copyright, safety, and platform use.
  • Maintain organized content calendars, working files, and approval records.
  • Use good judgment when publishing content or interacting with customers and followers online.

What You Bring

Required

  • One to three years of hands-on experience managing social media accounts for a brand, agency, or comparable organization.
  • A portfolio or work samples demonstrating social copy, photography, and short-form video.
  • Working knowledge of major social platforms and their native publishing features.
  • Experience creating and editing mobile-first photos and videos.
  • Strong writing, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple calendars, brands, and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with branch and field teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet CHS driving requirements.
  • Ability to travel regionally approximately 25% of the time.
  • Availability for occasional early-morning, evening, weekend, or event coverage.

Preferred

  • Education or coursework in marketing, communications, digital media, public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting multiple brands, locations, franchises, or geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience working with field-service, home-service, or locally operated businesses.
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling, analytics, listening, and asset-management tools.
  • Basic understanding of paid social media, creator partnerships, reputation management, or lead-generation measurement.

You May Be a Great Fit If You

  • Can recognize a strong content opportunity in an everyday moment.
  • Understand that Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other channels require different approaches.
  • Enjoy meeting employees in the field and helping tell their stories.
  • Can move between different brand voices without losing consistency.
  • Keep calendars, files, permissions, and deadlines organized.
  • Use data to make content better instead of posting based only on instinct.
  • Know when to respond, when to pause, and when to escalate.
  • Want to help build a social media function rather than simply inherit a finished one.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means:

  • CHS maintains a consistent and reliable publishing rhythm.
  • Each brand has a recognizable and appropriate social voice.
  • Branch and field activities regularly generate authentic content.
  • Content calendars and approvals are organized and visible.
  • Audience engagement and content performance are reviewed consistently.
  • Strong-performing content informs future decisions.
  • Customer, employee, and brand considerations are protected.

Who We Are

Complete Home Services supports a family of trusted brands, including Aire Serv, Mr. Electric, Molly Maid, Glass Doctor, and Five Star Painting. We support teams that serve customers in their homes and communities every day.

Our goal is to build value through people while helping our businesses grow, serve customers well, and create meaningful career opportunities.

Compensation and Schedule

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position with a pay range of $24.00 to $29.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience, portfolio quality, and demonstrated capabilities.

The position is based in Atoka, Tennessee, with a hybrid work arrangement. Approximately 25% regional travel is expected. Occasional early-morning, evening, weekend, or event coverage may be required. All work and travel time must be recorded in accordance with company policy.

Ready to Help Tell the CHS Story?

Please submit:

  • Your resume
  • A portfolio, social profile, or collection of relevant work samples
  • One example of a social post, video, or campaign you personally created
  • A brief explanation of your specific contribution to that work

We are less interested in how many years you have spent in the industry than in your ability to create strong content, stay organized, work with real people in the field, and help multiple brands connect with their audiences.

Complete Home Services provides equal employment opportunities in accordance with applicable law.
