Job Description

Position Description: The Oilwell Services and Offshore Operations of the company are Union facilities and environments, so coming into the company as a maintenance professional will be both challenging and rewarding. Unless you have steel industry manufacturing experience, you must be capable of moving into an environment where you have the least product knowledge and industry experience yet are the responsible maintenance technician who must produce quality results to keep production rolling. You will be working with a group of experienced steel workers along the path to high productivity and excellence, while mastering the overall aspects of the steel business at the front-line maintenance level. Due to the nature of the business, the facilities operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year. Maintenance Technician – as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair to facility and production equipment within different areas of the mill. You will be part of the Steel Workers Union workforce that has a tremendous relationship with management throughout the mill. Candidates must have strong troubleshooting and repair skills, and should have experience with the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical or mechanical systems within industrial equipment, facilities, automated systems, and other mechanical/engineering systems. Mechanical systems include hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, power transmission systems, conveyors, compressors, pumps, cranes, piping, structural, and mobile equipment. • Ability to analyze a wide variety of equipment, troubleshooting problems, and make appropriate repairs.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with interdepartmental groups.
• Ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
• Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Military candidates highly preferred! Non-military candidates must have an Associates Degree in a parallel course of study or must have technical certification(s) in an equivalent discipline.
