Instrument Technician (Wood River, IL)

Position Description
As an Instrument Technician, you will maintain the refinery's control, monitoring and safety instrumentation systems. Additional responsibilities will include:
• Installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Refinery electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, including controllers, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and vibration equipment. Also, includes the maintenance and configuration of Distributive Control Systems and the maintenance and programming of Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Performing preventive and predictive maintenance for instrument equipment.
• Providing inspection, testing, and documentation of safety systems to meet OSHA regulations.
• Providing inspection, testing, and documentation of environmental systems to meet EPA regulations.
• Assisting with pre-startup safety reviews and new project technical reviews.
• Communicating well with all organizational levels and presenting information/ideas in an articulate and organized way.
• Working effectively in a team environment.
• Performing basic rigging.
• Coordinating work of others as needed.
• Operating fork lift, man-lifts, and overhead cranes.

Position Details:
Location: Wood River, IL
Shift Work: 1st shift (Monday-Friday) with overtime required, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Travel Requirements: Could involve some travel time estimated at one to two weeks per year.

Requirements:
• Must have an Associate’s Degree in Instrumentation or Electronics or equivalent industry or military experience.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must have a current valid driver's license.
• Two or more years of direct instrument maintenance experience working in a refinery, chemical plant, or power plant is preferred.
• Hold or willing to obtain a FCC license is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is preferred.
• Experience with Honeywell TDC3000 or other Distributive Control System configuration and maintenance is preferred.
• Experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell software packages is preferred.
• Able to read, understand and work from Piping & Instrument Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and discrete logic diagrams is preferred.

• Must be able to perform work in sometimes hazardous conditions that require special personal protective equipment.
• Must have work experience in API and ANSI Pumps, Centrifugal and Reciprocating Compressors, Steam Turbines and General Shop Machinery.
• Must be able to work alone or in team environment.
• Completion of trade school in precision machine technology is preferred.
• Understanding and complying with safety and department repair procedures is preferred.
• Knowledge of computer skills (MS Office, Outlook) is preferred.
