Outside Sales Representative

Midwest
US Navy, E-5

As a full-time MBA student, I knew it would be difficult to find a job that would mesh with my school schedule. Nevertheless, I posted my resume on Careerbuilder with several scheduling stipulations. I received a number of generic inquiries prior to getting the call from Todd Phillips. Todd’s call was a stark contrast from the others I received. It was obvious that he had taken the time to personally review my resume and made the call to me with a game plan in mind. I never felt pressured to tone down my scheduling demands.

Todd was confident that he could find a position that would allow me to make a generous living without slimming down my class load. He also recommended other options to help me with my career search, including joining LinkedIn. Needless to say, it was a refreshing conversation, and I was excited to leverage Todd’s experience and corporate connections to get my foot in the door for an interview. At the same time, I was hesitant to become too enamored with Todd’s assurances.

Within a couple days, Todd called to invite me to a hiring conference that Orion was hosting. He discussed the position with me and emailed a PDF with information on the company and the position. As an outside sales representative, Todd assured me that I would be in complete control of my schedule. Todd introduced me to the account manager, who walked me through the interview process prior to starting the actual interview. This was my first professional interview ever, so it was nice to get the butterflies out of the way ahead of time. I walked into the interview poised and prepared, and it obviously showed as I was invited back for a second interview later that week.

Todd and his team stayed in touch with me on a daily basis over the next two weeks of the hiring process, even though it coincided with the Christmas holiday season. I actually got confirmation of the job offer from one of Todd’s associates two days prior to receiving the official offer. I’ve been with Swagelok for a month now, and I couldn’t be happier. Todd has continued to stay in touch, volunteering his services wherever he can be of help.

I could not be more grateful for Todd’s help over the past couple months. Without him, I would probably still be stuck trying to get an interview. Instead, I got the first job I interviewed for, I’ve found a comfortable balance between my work and school demands, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the recent boost to my income. I feel very comfortable recommending Todd and Orion International, and I know that they will continue to be a strong asset for military veterans transitioning to the civilian world.
