Drill Site Manager

West
US Navy, O-3

I attended the University of North Florida and graduated in 2000 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I left the Navy in October 2004 as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. Right after leaving the military, I worked with another recruiting agency that placed me in a job, but the company in which I was placed went bankrupt. I then went to another hiring conference through them, and the same thing happened. I was disappointed that they did not screen their companies very well.

I learned about Orion International through a close friend. He was stationed with me and had a brother that was hired through Orion, so I turned to them for a job. When I came to Orion, I was frustrated, because the company that I was working for was going under, again.

I worked with Katrina Phruksukarn. From the very beginning, I knew Orion was going to be different. Katrina was very kind and seemed very passionate about find people like me great opportunities. I was looking for a company that represented a long-term career, and she listened to me. I believe we talked for about 45 minutes the day I signed up.

I attended an Orion hiring conference, and it was the best in comparison to the two I attended with the other company. I am now a Project Manager with Occidental Oil and Gas. Oxy is like a dream come true. Outside of being a military officer, I have never loved a job until now.

Orion went above and beyond. There were several opportunities that I was presented with at the time, and I looked into all of them. I would have been happy with most of them, but I truly love it here at Oxy. I am working for a company I really like, and I do a job that I love. I make great money, and I receive a much higher compensation here than at my last job. Thanks, Orion.
