Electrical Technician

West
US Navy, E-5

I had served for six years as a Nuclear Electrician mate, Second Class, when I separated from the Navy in April 2006. I learned about Orion at a TAPS class six months prior to separating. Additionally, I came across their name in an email. Jim Lewis was my recruiter, and he treated me with great respect. He understood the requirements and needs of my family in regard to securing a successful job, and he made whatever efforts necessary to find the perfect job for me.

To find this job, I attended a job conference in April 2006. Orion did an outstanding job placing me in interviews for companies with which I was a good fit. I was very excited about all the interviews afterward, because I felt as though they had all gone very well. Orion is the only company that placed me in interviews in which I wanted to participate. Every company I interviewed with had aspects about them that I liked. A few companies at the conference struck my fancy, and NUCOR Steel, my future employer, was one of them. After three great interviews with NUCOR and a tour of the site, I was offered a position.

I am now an Industrial Electrician, which is right up my alley. The job is very exciting for me, especially as I continue to enjoy the work and the people. Orion placed me in a position that meets my family’s needs. And their competition was not half as successful!
