Engineering Maintenance Tech

Northeast
US Navy, E-5

I served six years in the Navy as an electrician. After being discharged, I was very lost in what I should do, as I was very ill prepared and had not taken the necessary steps to ensure job placement prior to my EAOS. I put my resume on the internet and received a few phone calls from possible employers; however I was having trouble relating all of my experience to civilian jobs and was rusty on the basics of my training. I became very concerned about my employment status and began to consider whether or not getting out was a mistake. That was until Mike Wooster from Orion International contacted me and informed me of a hiring conference that was to occur soon in my area.

I was soon working with multiple members of Orion and receiving emails with attachments with tips on resumes, personal appearance, and interviews. I even received a study guide on all the basics of my in-rate knowledge, so that I could brush up on the training I had received six years ago. After doing some studying and taking all the advice from Orion, I felt very confident that I would be able to find a great job at the hiring conference. On game day I was able to interview with six different companies that fit my criteria, and I was so well prepared that every company I interviewed with gave me a job offer within 48 hours, including my current employer, who has exceeded all of my expectations for a career outside of the military.

All in all, it took me about a week working with Orion International to find a job that I really liked within a month of getting out of the Navy. I did work with other recruiting services, but only a few were as personable as Orion International, and none were able to provide me with the right resources for success. Thanks to Mike Wooster and Jim Stafford and all the members of the Orion International team.
