  • Position Description
    As an Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
    • Assisting in the work on smaller engineering projects or well-defined areas of larger projects. Using existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems.
    • Building relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross-functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively.
    • Working under supervision in the field and/or home office in a variety of functions and in challenging but structured work that develops competencies in the function/discipline.
    • Gathering and correlating basic engineering data using well-defined engineering procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems, and engineering studies.
    • Expanding and improving technical and business skill set under own initiative with instruction, guidance and direction from others.
    • Assisting in a variety of topics including developing innovative procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.

    Our client is hiring Engineers in the following Areas of Expertise:

    Civil and Structural
    • Performing and overseeing site assessment for substation siting, site development plans and specifications (grading, roads, drainage, and fence) for new substations and transmission lines.
    • Overseeing design of substation structures and foundations.

    Transmission Engineering
    • Designing of Overhead and Underground Transmission lines (69kV and higher).

    Substation Engineering
    • Preparing more complex substation engineering assignments, alone or as part of a team.
    • Monitoring progress of assigned projects and ensuring problems are being identified and resolved.
    • Reviewing design documentation to determine compliance with design criteria or standards.
    • Preparing and analyzing data and performing necessary activities to optimize system/component performance and availability.
    • Completing design packages to add/modify systems or components.

    Protection Control
    • Developing relay settings, designing protection logic, selecting schemes, developing communication requirements, and assessing emerging technologies.

    Transmission Planning
    • Providing technical and project initiation.

    • Developing new and revised standards for substations and transmission lines.

    Transmission Reliability
    • Overseeing transmission system performance in the field.

    Asset Strategy
    • Overseeing transmission system performance.

    Position Details:
    Location: Allentown, PA

    • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university accredited by ABET, or recognized by ABET as substantially equivalent. Discipline required will vary by the specific job requirements.
    • Must have a minimum of 2 years related engineering experience.
    • Engineer in Training Certificate a plus, but not required.
    • Experience in the energy industry a plus, but not required.
    • If you have no prior engineering experience, you will still be considered and placed into rotational roles to learn each facet of the position.
