Job Description

Position Descriptions: Workshop Coordinator / Manager (based on experience)
Workshop Coordinator/Manager is responsible for delivering safe, timely, and quality delivery of machine shop services in support of 2-Stroke, 4-Stroke, and heavy equipment repairs and reconditioning. You will be charged with managing the workflow and prioritization of the execution of services in the shop as well as managing document control to ensure all safety procedures and policies are being followed.

Some responsibilities will include:
• Takes customer calls, discusses, and defines scope, prepares quotes, plans, and assigns both 2-Stoke and 4-Stroke workshop engine service activities. Directs and prioritizes team with rigging, cleaning, inspections, measurements, calibration and mechanical assembly according to service processes.
• Upon completion of all service work the WSC is required to assemble a well written and concise service report with photographs and measurements sheets to be generated in MS Word and converted to PDF. As a member of the service team you may be called upon to assist others in technical reporting, taking measurements and documentation.
• Direction of others in repair and OH of cylinder liners, cylinder heads, C/W pumps, L/O pumps, Fuel pumps, FI’s and calibration as required, cleaning C/A Coolers and heat exchangers.
• Training of others to quantify and record fine metric measurements of OD’s ID’s, thickness, depth, ovality and wear. Proper use of bore gauge, dial gauge, snap gauges, Vernier calipers, deflection gauges and other common measurement instruments.
• Leads pre-job safety meetings, following all safety requirements and adherence to customers safety protocols. delivers tool box safety talks as well as shift handover notes and observations.
• Identifies and plans all tooling requirements for upcoming work, instruct others in proper use of all tooling, equipment and machines after properly certified.
• Directs workshop staff to perform Pre-job mobilization, tool preparation, packing, verification of calibration certificates to include shipping, de-mobilization and recovery of assets, along with cleaning, inspection and storage of tools and equipment in accordance with required specifications.
• Trains others in the calibration and completeness of all tooling, measurements recorded, inspections made, reviews data for completeness, quantity and quality sufficient for service report documentation for scope of work.

Position Details:
Compensation: $65k - $90k / annually based on experience
Location: Houston, TX
Shift: Standard in-shop hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

The hiring manager is looking for a strong prior military candidate who has experience as a workshop coordinator or onsite facilities manager of technical engine or power transmission services or other oil and gas experience.
Wartsila, MAN, Mitsubishi, Sulzer, Bergen, Pielstick, and STX are just a few of the engine types named. You by no means have to be an expert on all or even one of them, but you do need to have at least some with the ability to learn fast and hit the ground running. Most of the information and skills will be learned on the job and company will also provide some in house training to further your technical skills, so you will have to be able to retain knowledge quickly, efficiently, and safely.
