Orion Talent, the nation’s largest military recruiting firm, is currently recruiting transitioning or former military professionals for a Senior Commissioning Project Manager with a company that provided Commissioning, Qualification and Validation services to the life science industries for over 30 years. Services rendered include Engineering Equipment and System Commissioning and Qualification (S&Q), Environmental Mapping, Building Commissioning, Computer Systems Validation, and Quality System Consulting.
Location: Portage, MI
Travel: Occasional travel will be required, but not significant
Relocation: A relocation package is approved for this role
Compensation: Base salary of $90-$100K + PSP, ranging from $12-$20K+ annually = W-2 $100-120K+. After 6 months of service employees are eligible for the 20% before tax profits that is paid out to employees semiannually. You can expect to earn $12K-$20K annually through the profit-sharing program!

In this position you will be expected to demonstrate a sound knowledge, application, and proper implementation of technical, quality, and scientific principles necessary to meet industry and customer requirements. You will work in a team environment or independently to meet defined objectives based on an established timeline and deliver project management in a manner that is consistent with the company’s values. The Senior Commissioning Project Manager reports directly to the Division Director or a Manager.
The activities would include:
Consult with the client to develop scope and project requirements
Assist with project proposal development
Work with client to develop Owner’s Project Requirements
Apply industry, regulatory and client specific knowledge to develop commissioning specifications, perform reviews of the system design and submittals, and develop commissioning plan components including Installation Verification and Functional Performance Test scripts
Conduct commissioning coordination meetings and prepare meeting minutes
Apply principles of operation of new equipment/instrumentation/methods/processes and the associated controls; identify critical parameters affecting quality or safety and relate those critical parameters to the overall process. This includes review and understanding of associated specifications, drawings, and technical documentation
Develop concise acceptance criteria for an operational test or inspection. Review data to determine compliance with acceptance criteria. Track issues to resolution
Documentation of all commissioning-related activities
Assist/lead with providing commissioning-adjacent services (including but not limited to facility condition assessments and energy audits)
A 4-yr degree is preferred, preferably in an Engineering, Architecture, or other Technical Field. You will be expected to become an industry expert in your field, so you must have a strong technical aptitude and business sense, and the ability to learn new systems easily. You must be a self-starter and be motivated to provide a solid product quality and customer experience. Realistically you will be expected to demonstrate a process-driven mindset, with a keen eye on quality and systems performance. Candidates with an engineering background in a highly regulated environment (such as the Navy’s nuclear program) are ideal. You must possess effective skills for developing, performing, evaluating, troubleshooting for operating systems and controls, or within a specific scientific / technical discipline.
Proven project management skills and ability to work independently

Excellent oral and written communication skills and high attention to detail
A comprehensive understanding of control theory and building automation systems including packaged controls, a broad understanding of all building systems, and the building delivery process (design/construction)
Familiarity with USGBC LEED and sustainability
Possess a thorough understanding of client-specific standards and how regulations, standards and guidance influence client processes. These standards include but are not limited to local energy codes, ASHRAE Standard 202, Building Commissioning Association Essential Attributes
Thorough understanding of the commissioning process for new construction, from pre-design phase through post-occupancy.
Awareness of the commissioning processes for retro-commissioning and recommissioning
Working knowledge of devices for measuring physical system parameters including temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, airflow, and pressure
