Construction Business Owner Magazine - The Benefits of Hiring Veterans

Orion CEO Mike Starich had the opportunity to write an article for Construction Business Owner Magazine about the benefits of hiring Veterans in the construction industry and a step-by-step guide to implementing an effective Veteran Hiring program.

Benefits of Military Hiring

Successful companies realize that its employees are its greatest assets and the leadership, teams and specialized skills that an organization brings to its projects directly impact its bottom line. To help ensure the right talent is in place, more construction companies are learning that adding Veterans to their workforce is not just a good idea, but even better for business.

Many enlisted individuals, officers and command staff have experience on military construction teams constructing or repairing buildings, airfields, bridges and other structures. This experience makes military veterans an ideal fit in the construction industry.

In discussing the benefits of hiring veterans, Related Companies, Senior Vice President Frank J. Monterisi, Jr. and former Marine, shares that veterans “are very valuable to our company and the overall construction industry. The men and women who come out of serving our country have dedication, a strong work ethic and are exceptional problem solvers—which are great attributes to have when working on construction projects.” He continued to say, “Construction projects are all about teams and working together. We are happy to bring them on, and will continue to keep this hiring initiative as a key priority for our organization.”
